You are Hired
Evangelist D.L. Moody once said, “It is clear you don’t like my way of doing evangelism. You raise some good points. Frankly, I sometimes do not like my way of doing evangelism. But I like my way of doing it better than your way of not doing it.”
I’ve always found it quite funny and a bit ironic that there are so many critics online (especially from the church) when it comes to sharing the Gospel. Yes, evangelists are called to preach the Gospel and have a natural, innate ability to do so. Yet the primary role of an evangelist is to equip the saints to preach the Gospel. We see this laid out in Ephesians 4:11. That means that we all are called to share the Gospel to our sphere of influence. I encourage you, don’t get stuck waiting to have your apologetics and methods all figured out or you’ll be waiting a long time.
Our best days of seeing harvest are ahead of us. I believe that our minds cannot even imagine the things that God has in store for the earth. However, we need to lift up our eyes off of ourselves, lay down our way of doing things and come into alignment with the passions and desires of God.
The best thing we can pray in this season is, “Lord, what are You doing on the earth right now? What has Your focus and attention? How can I partner with You today? Thank You for taking care of my needs; help me to take care of the needs of others.”
Could we be a generation of people who would say with honesty, “Not my will, but Your will be done, Lord”?
Could our hearts’ desires be transformed into the desires of God’s heart? I believe that God has called you and me to go out and preach the Gospel with power. One of the most empowering Scriptures in the entire Bible comes from the mouth of the resurrected Jesus. I love that Jesus didn’t leave His disciples wandering about at a total loss as to what their next steps would be. Jesus said to His disciples in Mark 16:15-17:
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe.
This is crazy stuff if you read this and believe it! Maybe, just maybe, we don’t need another conference on “Identity + Calling.”
Imagine if we thought, “Hey, I am going to try that out. If it was good enough for the early disciples, it’s good enough for me!” This is resurrected Jesus speaking to His best friends on earth. He’s giving them His best advice on how to live a life full of the Kingdom. He is giving them their new mission, and that same mission is ours today.
Jesus tells all of them to go and preach the Gospel, to baptize people and make disciples of all the nations. He’s like, “Hey besties! I’m giving you the craziest opportunity of a lifetime. You are going to tell people everywhere about Me! I am going to back you up! You won’t just see signs and wonders because you went to some event. No way! Signs and wonders will accompany anyone who believes! You want to drive out demons—yeah, you can do that in My name!”
I love that Scripture continues on and tells us that the disciples did what Jesus said and that the Lord worked with them and confirmed His word with signs. You want to see healings, miracles, signs, and wonders—preach the Gospel for a year and watch what happens!
The truth is there is no other major plan God has for you that doesn’t include preaching the Gospel and making disciples. This is God’s plan through His believers here on the earth. For many of us, we are violently searching for something else and constantly looking inward. Don’t believe me? Just type in #Ennegram into Instagram and watch what pops up. There is nothing wrong with discovering more about who you are, but don’t allow the enemy to rob you of foundational truths. Perhaps if we come into alignment with God’s plan and purpose, we will find our own purpose and our own plans will become clearer.

Was just praying this last night... Lord, you have done so much for me... what can I do for you? Here, how simple, how true! 🤗
